Tennessee Nonprofit Network is embarking on a multi-year communications initiative intended to uplift positive stories of nonprofits and help highlight the important yet sometimes invisible work of the nonprofit sector. Based on extensive polling, focus groups, and research, we have identified key messages and topics that resonate most with potential donors, volunteers, and community supporters.
Nonprofits are America’s invisible backbone. You deliver critical services efficiently, drive economic growth, and strengthen communities in unrecognized ways. Over the next six months, Tennessee Nonprofit Network will be pitching stories to media outlets about our member organizations’ impact in the Memphis (Shelby County) area.
This is a free service provided by Tennessee Nonprofit Network. To ensure your stories reach the right audiences, we are partnering with public relations and media expert Angelika Woods, Tailored Communications, LLC to pitch high-quality news stories and help get your organization featured in the news.
Phase 1 Priorities
Based on our research, we are currently prioritizing stories that focus on the following areas:
- Nonprofits as economic drivers
- Collaborations among government, nonprofit, houses of worship, faith-based institutions
- Unknown and untold impact success by those affiliated with a nonprofit
- Nonprofits filling in gaps for government services
- Human interest stories of board members, pastors, teachers, and volunteers who are respected friends and neighbors in your community
Please note that while we will accept submissions from all of our members, priority organizations include those serving women and children, supporting disaster relief, supporting veterans, and workforce development.
How to Participate
We urge you to share your stories through the form below. While we cannot guarantee that every organization will be highlighted by the media, we will be sharing new stories every week to pitch to various outlets to share your work.
We will only reach out to your organization if a media outlet expresses interest in your specific story. Thank you for the vital work you do to make Tennessee a better place.
