Planning a Charitable Gaming Event or Raffle Fundraiser in Tennessee? Read This!

Attention, Tennessee Nonprofit Network!  Mark Your Calendars for January 31st!

Why, you ask? Well, this is the deadline for applying for charitable gaming events with the Tennessee Secretary of State. An application is required for any nonprofit that wants to host a gaming event in the upcoming fiscal year (July 1st, 2024 – June 30th, 2025). If a nonprofit hosts a gaming event without an application, the organizers may be in violation of breaking criminal gaming statutes and may be prosecuted by the local district attorney general.

Here are some key points to keep in mind as the clock ticks towards January 31st:

1. Why Apply for a Charitable Gaming Event?

Charitable gaming events provide nonprofits with a unique and exciting way to raise funds for their missions. By organizing events like raffles, reverse raffles, cake walks, cake wheels, bingo nights, or casino-themed gatherings, organizations can attract community members, businesses, and supporters who are eager to contribute to a good cause. These events not only generate funds but also help in building stronger connections within the community.

2. Understanding the Application Process

To host a charitable gaming event in Tennessee, nonprofits must submit their applications to the Secretary of State. All applications are then reviewed and submitted to the Tennessee General Assembly. 3. Mark January 31st on Your Calendar

The deadline for submitting your charitable gaming event applications is fast approaching. January 31st is the last day to get your applications in, so make sure your organization’s team is aware and prepared. Missing this deadline could mean missing out on a fantastic opportunity to fundraise and engage with your community.

4. Plan Ahead for a Successful Event

Once your application is submitted and approved, it’s time to start planning your charitable gaming event. Consider the type of event that aligns with your organization’s mission and resonates with your community. Whether it’s a family-friendly bingo night or an elegant casino-themed gala, thoughtful planning will make your event not only successful but also memorable.

5. Connect with the Community

Use your charitable gaming event as an opportunity to strengthen ties with your community. Promote the event through various channels, collaborate with local businesses for sponsorships, and encourage community members to participate. Building a strong support network is not only beneficial for your current event but can also pave the way for future collaborations.

In conclusion, January 31st is more than just a date on the calendar – it’s a deadline that could open doors to exciting opportunities for your nonprofit organization. Don’t let this chance slip away. Mark the date, complete your application, and get ready to host a memorable charitable gaming event that will not only raise funds but also leave a lasting positive impact on your community.

Here’s to a successful and impactful year for Tennessee’s nonprofits! Apply today and let the games begin!
