NEXT WEEK’S CALENDAR:

Monday:

  • House Gov’t Operations Committee will consider:
    • HB 1175- Requires a local education agency (LEA) in which a child care agency operates to submit a comprehensive list of all underutilized property or vacant property to the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Comptroller of the Treasury (COT) and for the department to make the list available to each child care agency operating in the LEA.
    • HB 793-Authorizes a local education agency (LEA) or public charter school to require that each student who seeks to enroll in the LEA or public charter school to produce documentation establishing that the student is: (1) a citizen of the United States; (2) is in the process of obtaining citizenship; or (3) holds a legal immigration or visa status.
    • HB 372-Enacts the “Tennessee Medicaid Modernization and Access Act of 2025,” which aligns TennCare’s current Medicaid reimbursement rates for key services, meaning obstetrics/gynecology, primary care, outpatient mental health, and substance use disorder treatment with the Medicare fee schedule or average commercial rates, whichever is higher.

Tuesday:

  • House Judiciary Committee will consider:
    • HB 322- Creates a Class E felony offense of human smuggling. Creates a Class A felony offense of aggravated human smuggling.
    • HB 811- Establishes that a charitable organization may be held liable for a loss, damages, injury, or death resulting from a criminal offense committed by a person that is unlawfully present in the United States if: 1) the organization knew the person was unlawfully present in the United States; 2) the person was receiving housing services from the organization when the offense was committed; and 3) the organization’s conduct in providing housing constitutes negligence, gross negligence, or willful and wanton misconduct.
